During its Aug. 5 meeting, the Planning and Zoning Commission heard from city staff that the area covered by North Creek Plat 3 was formerly within Public Water Supply District No. 16 but was detached by agreement so the city may provide water service to this phase. "The area included in Plat 3 was formally detached from the district pursuant to a joint agreement between the developer, the water district, and the city," staff member Matt said.
Staff explained the detachment required the developer to extend mains to city standards and to pay a detachment fee to the water district; staff said the city did not incur costs for the detachment. When a commissioner asked about the amount and structure of the fee, staff replied the fee is charged by acre and that the exact amount was not available "off the top of my head" but that staff would look it up and provide that information later.
