Facilities staff updated the board on permanent-improvement priorities, saying the district obtained a federal pass-through grant (via the state) to retrofit remaining non-LED fixtures at the middle school. "It's about $475,000 is the total cost for us to update the middle school ... we would get approximately $200,000 in reimbursement from the state via the federal government," the presenter said.
Trustees also discussed athletic turf condition and replacement timing. The facilities lead said older turf is failing earlier than expected primarily because of UV exposure, and that modern turf has an expected life of roughly 10—2 years. Staff argued heavy campus use (physical education, marching band, athletics, community users) and maintenance savings justify replacement rather than continued repair. They also previewed estimated high-school LED project cost at about $700,000 and described other FY27 investments (VAV HVAC controls, media-center upgrades, doors/windows contingent on ceilings coverage).
