At its Nov. 17 meeting the Aquilla ISD Board adopted a resolution requesting a one-year 'good cause' exception from the HB3 statutory requirement that schools have an armed security officer on campus. Trustees said the district uses School Guardians in lieu of an armed security guard and/or a chief of police, and the exception would be effective for one year if granted.
Will Pinner moved to adopt the resolution and Amber Cain seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The resolution will be filed with the appropriate authorities as the district seeks the one-year exception described in the minutes.
