Liz Barton, speaking for the PTO, told the board the group is partnering with Mobile Ed Productions to bring a portable planetarium to the elementary school and would cover the $1,895 cost so every student in grades K through 6 could attend.
"So 1st thing we're trying to do, which we are really excited about, is to partner with Mobile Ed Productions to bring a portable planetarium to the elementary school," Liz Barton said, adding the vendor can run only five shows per day with a maximum of 90 students per show and the PTO is looking at Jan. 23 as the target date. Barton said the PTO is exploring combined-grade shows to fit all students.
Barton also announced a PTO reverse raffle scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 24 at the Randolph KFC Mall to raise funds for assemblies like the planetarium. She asked for volunteers and donations to assemble raffle baskets and said tickets would be available soon.
The board thanked Barton for the update and did not take formal action; Barton's presentation served to inform the board and request community assistance for the fundraising effort.
