Task force parental-support subgroup plans paid-leave and childcare briefings as it compiles statewide resource lists

Subgroup leads told the full task force they are working on two parallel streams: paid parental leave (availability, duration, replacement rate) and childcare (availability, affordability, subsidy eligibility and coverage).
"We have members of the subgroup that are collecting existing ... lists of services in the state, for parents, to understand kind of the scope of what exists and what might be missing in different areas of the state," one chair said, describing efforts to compile searchable inventories and identify gaps.
The group scheduled experts to brief subgroups: Maddie Granada from paid family leave will join the subgroup meeting on the 12th to review Connecticut’s paid-leave structure, and representatives from Care for Kids will discuss childcare subsidies and metrics on the 26th. Members said these briefings will help shape practical recommendations that go beyond the report-card metrics.
Subgroup chairs emphasized they want recommendations that reflect what families in Connecticut actually use and need — including supports beyond formal certification lists — and that the report-card will be only one input in forming broader recommendations.
