Le Sueur County commissioners approve contracts, grants and personnel actions

The Le Sueur County Board of Commissioners approved several contracts and personnel items during its June 16 meeting in Le Center.
The board accepted a Local Bridge Replacement Grant from the Minnesota Department of Transportation for $186,634.89 for project SP 040-598-012 (County Road 117 Bridge Replacement) and approved the construction contract for the project with low bidder Redstone Construction of Mora, MN at $1,060,007.85. County Engineer Dave Tiegs presented the grant agreement (MnDOT Agreement No. 1062714) and the contract award; Commissioners John King and Dennis Tietz joined others in unanimous votes to approve the measures.
The board approved a contract with Inspire Services, LLC to provide a jail-based substance use treatment program for county-referred individuals after a presentation from Human Services Director Jamie Hayes and a representative identified as Kevin with Inspire Services. The board also approved use of opioid funds to cover an out-of-state training request for Anna Franco to attend the National Drug Court Training in Nashville, TN from July 18–23, 2026.
Other actions included personnel approvals recorded by Human Resources Director Theresa Kubes — new hire Josh Cummins (Correctional Officer), promotion of Christy Smykalski to Eligibility Worker, and the resignation of Rito Ayala effective June 26, 2026. The board also approved a State of Minnesota Joint Powers Agreement to assist in cleaning the historic channel alignment of County Ditch 15.
On routine financial matters, the board recorded total warrants and payments of $274,346.17 (87 payments under $2,000 totaling $37,218.82 and 25 payments over $2,000 totaling $237,127.35). The meeting adjourned with the board scheduling its next meeting for June 23, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.
