Howard described the letter as a preliminary step to seek meetings and to lay the groundwork for formal funding requests and said the towns that are partners have already prepared similar letters. The board voted to approve the chairman's request for a county letter of support and to allow Commissioner Howard to engage with elected officials on behalf of the board to seek grant and appropriations support; no dollar amounts were committed by the county at this stage.
