The advisory committee recommended a full fee waiver for Canal Arts to hold Family Arts Saturdays and a Hero Art mural workshop at the Albert Gabor Community Center on the third and fourth Saturdays from June 20, 2026, through May 22, 2027. Staff said the waiver would be valued at $1,320 and described the Canal Arts program history and volunteer base.
Committee members moved and seconded the motion to approve the full waiver and recorded unanimous yes votes. Staff noted the program expanded in 2025 to include a recurring mural component and that the group's activities align with the center’s mission to promote community art.
