Beaumont ISD will not appeal TEA state intervention, superintendent says

"No further appeal of the Texas Education Agency state intervention will be made by Beaumont ISD," Dr. Allen said during her mid‑year report, adding that the district weighed the significant financial cost of an appeal against the likelihood of success.
The TEA action followed campus performance ratings that prompted the commissioner's appointment. Dr. Allen said the district will focus on cooperating with the TEA to address identified challenges rather than pursuing costly litigation, and noted a TEA‑hosted community meeting had been held as part of the process.
The update came during the superintendent's broader mid‑year presentation on the district's vision, mission and initiatives. The meeting reconvened from closed session at 6:50 p.m.; trustees present included President Thomas P. Sigee Sr., Yolanda Avery, Senior Chief Dunn Sr., Joe Evans Jr., Tillie Hickman and Denise Wallace‑Spooner.
