Arlington ISD trustees approve order calling May 2 bond election totaling $501.275 million
Summary
The Arlington ISD Board voted unanimously Feb. 5 to call a May 2, 2026 bond election with three propositions: $438,755,000 for school facilities and buses (Prop A); $30,955,000 for technology (Prop B); and $31,565,000 for athletic facilities (Prop C). Trustees amended Option 2 to add and remove specific projects before adoption.
President Justin Chapa moved and Melody Fowler seconded that the Board adopt an order calling a bond election to be held on May 2, 2026, with Proposition A for School Facilities and Buses at $438,755,000; Proposition B for School Technology Improvements at $30,955,000; and Proposition C for School Athletic Facilities at $31,565,000. The motion passed unanimously (7–0).
Trustees reviewed the Capital Needs Steering Committee’s Option 2 and made several amendments before the final vote. The Board voted to include New Replacement Elementary School #5 (South Davis) in Option 2 and to add artificial turf installation for six high school baseball fields. Trustees also moved to fund junior high LED field lighting using residual 2019 bond funds rather than the new bond. Multiple motions on specific items were made and recorded with unanimous 7–0 votes.
