Beaumont ISD to submit corrective action after intruder-detection audit citation

Chief Joseph Malbrough told the committee that a state-mandated Intruder Detection Audit (IDA) covered seven schools and found one citation: a damaged door with locks unavailable for the auditor to inspect. The district plans to submit a corrective action plan to the state to demonstrate remediation.
Harris County is scheduled to perform the final phase of its audit in February 2026, Chief Malbrough said. The committee did not record a vote on specific repairs at the Oct. 29 meeting, but staff reported they are tracking fixes and will report back as the corrective action proceeds.
The IDA finding was presented as an isolated citation within the seven-school sample; committee members asked for progress updates so the district can document compliance for state reviewers.
