Board approves $2.37 million GMP and soft costs for BHISD central plant equipment

The Barbers Hill ISD Board voted unanimously Oct. 27 to accept a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) and soft costs totaling $2,366,746 for the Central Plant Equipment Pre-Purchase Package, intended to secure long-lead mechanical and electrical equipment for the new Higher Education Facility and Primary School North.
Executive Director of Planning and Facilities Patrick Hendricks explained the pre-purchase was necessary because of long equipment lead times. The board packet breaks down the GMP as a $2,099,357 equipment subtotal, $89,643 in general conditions, $43,780 in CM at Risk fee, and $133,966 in total soft costs. Trustee Fred Skinner moved to "accept the proposed total GMP and soft costs price of $2,366,746.00 for the BHISD Central Plant Equipment Pre-Purchase Package using Construction Manager at Risk project delivery;" Trustee Clint Pipes seconded the motion and it passed 7-0.
