Barbers Hill trustees approve consent agenda, accept donations and budget amendment

The Barbers Hill Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved the consent agenda during its Oct. 27 meeting, which included acceptance of minutes from Sept. 22, 2025, the September financial report and several donor gifts.
Trustee Benny May moved to approve the consent agenda "as presented," and Trustee Becky Tice seconded the motion. The motion passed 7-0. The consent package recorded two cash gifts from the Lions Club — a $1,000 donation designated for Thanksgiving dinners for needy families and a separate $2,000 donation to be split between the district's middle schools for student supplies — and a 24-foot enclosed livestock trailer valued at $16,000 donated by Sandy Sullivan for the FFA chapter. Policy CDC (Local) requires board approval for conditional gifts or gifts of real property; the board was recommended to accept each donation.
Also included in the consent items was a budget amendment to the General Fund revenue budgets to reflect updated lease payment recognition, certified values and enrollment figures that affect district revenue for the fiscal year. The board record indicates the superintendent recommended the amendment and that trustees approved it as part of the consent motion.
