At Waxens the business accepted the city's facts and the magistrate imposed a $500 fine for a first offense. "I'll impose a one time fine of $500 for that first offense," the magistrate said. At Duffy's the operation produced a second violation within a month; Duffy's representatives told the court they had terminated the bartender and manager and retrained staff. The magistrate imposed a $500 fine for that second offense as well. Business representatives said the establishments had strengthened internal policies and required all employees to sign a revised alcohol-service policy.
