Principals report on instructional priorities; Homecoming and attendance incentives underway

Elementary Assistant Principal Jackie Colgan said the school has started quarterly data meetings to guide instructional decisions and that coaching cycles for new teachers focus on Orton-Gillingham reading instruction. Teachers are engaged in PLCs, peer observations and intentional planning aligned to the School Improvement Plan.
Junior High/High School Principal Megan McGann reported PLCs focusing on assessments and emotional intelligence, BIST Coach Todd Jefferson’s classroom visits and a new Recovery Room. McGann said the peer mentoring program trained more than 20 high school students and that staff were addressing low turnout for a new peer tutoring initiative. McGann also outlined Homecoming Week activities and thanked the board for visiting the new facilities.
Superintendent Brett Elliott congratulated unit office staff on a clean FY2025 audit, noting, "These ladies are the ultimate professionals, meticulous, and take great pride in their work. We are so lucky to have them on our team." Elliott reminded the community of Homecoming events and scheduled parent-teacher conferences and a staff flu clinic.
