Stark County Elementary preschool earns ExceleRate 'Gold Circle of Quality'; teacher credited for district writing curriculum

President Ann Orwig presented Pride & Excellence recognition to the district’s Preschool for All/Preschool for All Expansion program after the program achieved the ExceleRate Illinois "Gold Circle of Quality" designation following state monitoring. The recognition cited program strengths including instructional excellence, staff qualifications and family services.
Assistant Principal Jackie Colgan publicly thanked the Pre-K team for their work. Orwig also presented recognition to Courtney Kunkel for independently researching and blending Wonders and Orton-Gillingham (OG) resources to create a school-wide writing curriculum for grades 1–5; Colgan noted that Kunkel’s work will enrich learning and demonstrates a high level of dedication.
