Board adopts 5.66% tax levy, directs certificate to county clerks

The Stark County CUSD 100 Board of Education approved the 2025 Tax Levy at a 5.66% increase and directed Superintendent Brett Elliott to submit the Certificate of Tax Levy to the county clerks. President Ann Orwig made the motion and Emily Leezer seconded; the motion passed 6-0.
Superintendent Brett Elliott opened the district's Truth in Taxation hearing and said district staff expect state school funding to decline while costs for salaries, benefits, energy, facilities and casualty insurance continue to rise. "Based on the estimates, a 5.66% increase will maximize funding without increasing the tax rate," Elliott said. The board heard no public comments during the hearing.
The levy decision attempts to preserve local resources as state-level uncertainty persists; the board will monitor revenue and expenditures during FY2026 and report updates at future meetings.
