The Saratoga Springs City Council set a public hearing for proposed short‑term rental legislation on Nov. 19 at 6:00 p.m. in the Music Hall and agreed to a one‑hour scheduled forum that will include a staff presentation and public questions.
Commissioner (Accounts) said the session will present state law context, the city's proposed local rules and enforcement implications, and allow residents to ask clarifying questions. "We'll do a presentation of the state law... and the proposed local laws that we'll be voting on later that evening," the commissioner said, adding the goal is to shift from one‑way statements to a productive question‑and‑answer format.
Public commenters during the meeting urged the council to distinguish owner‑occupied short‑term rentals from absentee investor‑owned units, citing neighborhood disruption and noise. The council agreed to post the final draft in advance so residents can review and prepare questions.
Officials said they will evaluate whether one hour is sufficient and can schedule additional meetings if public interest requires more time.
