Directors from BISD's Auxiliary Department presented an overview of child nutrition, maintenance, and transportation operations. Alyssa Werner (Director of Child Nutrition) led the spotlight that also included JD Higginbotham (Director of Maintenance) and Dena Weaver (Director of Transportation). The presentation highlighted Food Service efforts to increase student participation and operational coordination across departments.
Operations staff noted that Ms. Weaver applied for a transportation grant and is a finalist; if awarded, the grant would cover roughly 50% of the cost for two new buses. The board discussed budget amendments that relate to transportation and Food Service and noted that staff will continue work to increase participation and pursue grant funding.
