Beckville ISD staff report teacher bonuses and food-only gift-card distribution plan

Administrators told trustees elementary teachers will receive an additional bonus for curriculum work and the district will distribute Walmart gift cards restricted to food items this year per an auditor suggestion.
Administrators reported that elementary teachers would receive an additional bonus on top of the recent raise because they complied with and implemented the curriculum. Loretta Blair said '100% will receive it because they followed the curriculum and put it into the work to make our students successful.'
Superintendent Devin Tate said the district will distribute Walmart gift cards again this year but, following an auditor suggestion, the cards will be for food items only; staff will explain the restriction when distributing cards. Trustees were also invited to a staff Christmas luncheon on Dec. 18.
