Bastrop ISD board approves 2025–26 district and campus improvement plans with measurable targets

The Bastrop ISD Board of Trustees voted Oct. 21 to approve the district and campus improvement plans for 2025–26, adopting several numeric targets and initiatives designed to raise student outcomes.
Kendra Monk, Director of Leadership Development and School Improvement, presented plans developed under Texas Education Code §11.25(a) and §11.251. The district targets include raising STAAR performance at the "Meets Grade Level" standard to 50%, increasing overall student growth scores from 61 to 74, and improving the Domain 3 Closing the Gaps score from 73 to 80 by May 2026. The plans emphasize data-driven instruction, coaching for teachers, curriculum alignment, expanded blended learning, strengthened special education differentiation, and efforts to reduce teacher turnover and increase attendance.
Josh Coy moved to approve the plans and Dr. Matthew Mix seconded. Board members recorded their votes by show of hands and the motion carried unanimously. The plans will guide campus‑level priorities and will be implemented and monitored by district leadership.
