Assistant Superintendent Austin Crawley presented the district's Bilingual / English as a Second Language Annual Program Effectiveness Report on Oct. 14. "Bartlett I.S.D. has Emergent Bilingual students in all grades Pre-K through 12th, averaging 27% across all grade levels," Crawley said, and described steps the district has taken to improve outcomes, including hiring a full-time Emergent Bilingual teacher and providing Sheltered Instruction training for teachers and aides.
Crawley said the district has processes for identification and testing of Emergent Bilingual students and is providing resources and staff training to support students toward English proficiency.
