Athletic Director Ty Oppermann told trustees that a training room has been set up for the new athletic trainer and that the trainer will help staff identify more serious injuries. "Our goal is to keep kids healthy and we will err on the side of safety," he said. Oppermann reported that participation is up districtwide, with middle school football numbers doubled from last year, and that middle school and high school volleyball teams are performing well.
Oppermann also updated the board on facilities work: numbers on the football field are being cut in, visitor bleachers are nearly complete, and the district remains on schedule to host the Oct. 11 game on the new field. The board received the report without votes; implementation and scheduling will be handled by athletics and operations staff.
