The Barbers Hill Independent School District Board of Trustees on Jan. 26 approved an order calling a school building bond election on May 2, 2026, for an amount not to exceed $95,000,000 to fund construction, acquisition and equipment for a multipurpose athletic fieldhouse and other stadium improvements.
Assistant Superintendent of Finance Becky McManus presented the order and financial advisor Brian Grubbs of SAMCO Capital Markets provided a bond program analysis that the board was told demonstrates no tax increase tied to the issuance. The motion to approve the order passed 6–0, with trustee Fred Skinner recorded as absent.
The district’s order includes an early voting period beginning April 20 and a canvass meeting scheduled for May 11. The board also approved, in the same meeting, a recommendation to engage edVantage Strategy Group to provide campaign planning and management services related to the bond proposition; the agreement proposal was made available to trustees for review at the meeting.
“The motion to approve the order calling School Building Bond Election” was made and passed during the reconvened session, according to meeting minutes. The order’s Section 3 (attached to the board packet) contains proposition specifics and Exhibit A and B list early voting locations and times.
