Board rejects superintendent-backed proposal to terminate teacher Lydia McDonald

The board had met in executive session earlier under multiple provisions of the Texas Government Code, including consultation with legal counsel and personnel matters, before taking the public vote. The meeting record shows the vote as: Yeas — Lyndon Alec and Mark Duff; Nays — Kabe Murphy, Sheila Neal and Zackary Williford; Abstain (with conflict) — Darrell Murphy and Maynard Williams. The motion text stated the board would "propose the termination of the term contract of Lydia McDonald, and authorize the Superintendent to provide the employee notice of this action." Because the motion did not pass, no board authorization to issue termination notice was recorded in the open meeting.
