Parents urge Bosqueville ISD to reinstate transfer students after bullying allegations

Yolanda Govea Phillips voiced support for former transfer students Kylie and Mikayla DeGraeve and asked the Board to "consider second chances" for the sisters. Derek DeGraeve, the girls' father, alleged prolonged bullying and retaliation while his children attended BISD and said the high school principal and administration did not sufficiently intervene. Kylie DeGraeve, identified in the minutes as a former student, "stated she had reached out to teachers and administrators as well as law enforcement regarding issues she was facing." Her mother, Misty DeGraeve, asked the Board to show empathy and reinstate both daughters as transfers.
Board President Debbie Wright-Hood responded by reviewing the district's grievance process and noting the Level 3 grievance procedure under GF(LOCAL) board policy. The minutes record the family’s concerns and the Board’s procedural response but do not show any vote or immediate personnel action taken at the meeting.
