The Brooks County ISD Board of Trustees voted to approve the district's 2025-2026 payment to the Rural Schools Innovation Zone (RSIZ) in the amount of $594,713.60 and authorized the interim superintendent to negotiate the terms of a renewed performance agreement with RSIZ.
Finance Director Alissa Sanchez presented the payment item and stated, "The invoice total is $594,713.60." Trustees approved the payment by motion (Mr. David C. Salinas moved; Mrs. Maria E. Anzualda seconded) with a recorded 7-0 vote. The board also passed a motion directing the interim superintendent to negotiate the renewal of the RSIZ performance agreement; Mrs. Anzualda requested the finance director be included in negotiations.
Separately, the board tabled approval of a Project Manager and Administrative Services Agreement with Lone Star Strategy Group, LLC for services related to the HRSA-funded Fire Science Training Center; legal counsel is reviewing that contract. The board also approved a general fund budget amendment for R-PEP money for the current year.
