A Newport resident raised questions about vendor licensing at the city's recent Rodeo during the council's public-comment period.
Rob Owen (337 S. Washington) asked how many vendor licenses the city had acquired for the Rodeo and whether vendors were paying sales tax, saying it was unfair compared with licensed businesses in town. Administrator Abby Gribi said she would look into the matter and follow up with the Rodeo organizers; Councilmember Mark Zorica asked who is responsible for policing vendor licenses.
The minutes record the inquiry and staff's pledge to investigate but do not show any formal action or staff directive recorded at the meeting. Any enforcement or corrective steps will require staff follow-up and are not documented in the July 6 minutes.
