Creative District wins grant for TJ Kelly Park sculpture; Council asked to support placement

At the June 15 meeting, Linda Cassella informed the Council that the Creative District has been awarded a grant to fund a sculpture at TJ Kelly Park and that the Creative District and Kalispel Tribe are proposing a grizzly bear design. She asked the Council for suggestions for placement and for approval to proceed with planning, noting the group is considering the corner of First and Washington.
Administrator Abby Gribi confirmed she will forward the sculpture plans to Council for review. Councilmember Mark Zorica asked whether installation costs are included in the grant; Cassella replied they have not yet obtained a quote and do not know the total installation cost. The minutes do not record a formal vote on the sculpture design or placement; Administrator Gribi indicated staff will circulate the plans to Council.
