The board considered a consolidated policy update packet (01/25) provided through TASB policy services and briefly debated its necessity and local implications.
Trustees questioned whether some items were merely housekeeping or whether certain local authorities (for example, the board’s ability to assign clerical assistance) should remain explicitly with the board. Chief of staff Christy Johnson reviewed the changes and noted many items reflect legal updates or recommended best practice language. A trustee asked for specific local policies to be pulled for deeper review if members wished; another urged the board to vote to adopt the full packet to keep the policy manual current.
After discussion, Trustee Raven Kelvin moved and the board voted 5–2 to approve the additions, revisions, and deletions recommended by policy services (update 01/25). Staff said they will accept feedback and, if the board requests, return with redrafted local language for specific policies.
