Summary
An RFP for property and casualty insurance returned no external bids; trustees voted to renew coverage through the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), accepting a modest premium increase and a lower property deductible.

District staff solicited proposals for property and casualty insurance but received no competing bids by the deadline. With only TASB providing a renewal quote, the board reviewed the association’s packet and a line‑by‑line comparison to last year.
CFO Daryl Sinclair said he was surprised at the lack of responses from other insurers but noted that TASB’s renewal reduces the property deductible from $1,000,000 to $250,000 while increasing the premium by roughly $34,000 overall. Trustees discussed whether the RFP timeline or market timing limited responses and whether the district should change future deadlines to allow insurers more time to compile rates.
A trustee moved to approve TASB as the district’s property and casualty carrier for the coming year; the motion passed. Trustees complimented TASB’s responsiveness on prior claims and asked staff to continue seeking competition in future cycles.
