Borger ISD board certifies unopposed candidates, cancels school board election

The Borger Independent School District Board of Trustees on March 5 certified unopposed candidates for the upcoming board election and voted to cancel the election after trustees confirmed there were no contested seats. "Motion made by Mrs. Cyndee Hickman and seconded by Mr. Eric Schneck, that the Board of Trustees approve the Certification of Unopposed Candidates," the minutes record. The motion carried 5–0.
Following the certification, trustees approved a separate motion to cancel the school board election. "Motion made by Mr. Robert Bradley and seconded by Mr. Keegan Neill that the Board of Trustees approve the Cancelation of the School Board Election," the minutes state; that motion also carried 5–0. President Payton Lumpkin noted the board complied with required public-notice procedures under the Texas Open Meetings Act before adjourning to closed session earlier in the evening.
