Fort Lee Parking Authority urges borough to adopt EV charging-station parking ordinance

The Fort Lee Parking Authority voted unanimously to ask the Borough of Fort Lee to adopt an ordinance governing parking at public electric-vehicle (EV) charging stations. Executive Director Hernani Goncalves discussed the proposal, which would prohibit non-electric vehicles from parking in EV spaces, require electric vehicles to be connected to the charging station while occupying a space, and cap occupancy at 12 hours.
The resolution (2025-13) directs the Authority’s general counsel to work with the Borough Attorney on draft ordinance language. The motion to approve the recommendation was moved by Michael Raskin and seconded by Marc Macri and recorded as approved unanimously. The item was presented as a measure to prevent extended occupancy of chargers and increase access for charging EVs.
