Northfield introduces three land-use and redevelopment ordinances, refers them to Planning/Zoning Board
Summary
On Feb. 24 the council introduced Ordinances 5-2026 (land use amendments), 6-2026 (Wabash Avenue Redevelopment Plan), and 7-2026 (Dolphin Avenue Redevelopment Plan) on first reading; each was posted and will be reviewed by the combined Planning/Zoning Board on March 5 with final Council consideration March 10.
Council introduced three ordinances on first reading aimed at land-use and redevelopment. Ordinance 5-2026 would amend Chapter 215 (Land Use and Development); Ordinance 6-2026 adopts a Wabash Avenue Redevelopment Plan covering specified blocks and lots; and Ordinance 7-2026 would adopt a Dolphin Avenue Redevelopment Plan for named blocks and lots. Each ordinance was read by title for introduction, posted in City Hall and on the city website, and was scheduled for referral to the combined Planning/Zoning Board for review on March 5, 2026, with Council consideration for final adoption on March 10, 2026.
The Municipal Clerk told the public that "copies are available at no cost in the office of the Municipal Clerk between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm" to anyone who requests them prior to the public hearing, per the minutes; the ordinances will also be posted online.
