Northfield council approves consent agenda, moves forward on Birch Grove Park closeout and LRIG grant work

Council voted on a multi-item consent agenda on Feb. 10 that included awards, cooperative agreements and event approvals.
Council President Bucci read the consent-agenda statement: "All matters listed under the consent agenda are considered to be routine in nature, and having been reviewed by Council, will be enacted by one motion." The council then adopted Resolutions 59-2026 through 68-2026 and 72-2026 through 76-2026 and 78-2026 by consent; Resolutions 77 and 79-82 were not moved.
Among items approved was the award of a contract for the project known as FY2024 NJDCA Local Government Recreation Grant Improvements at Birch Grove Park (project 2024-04960-1526). Engineer Nassar reported that the Birch Grove Park final payment will be made once the city receives the required maintenance guarantee. Nassar also said he was working with Superintendent Boyd on the LRIG FY26 grant application, which must be submitted by Feb. 13.
Other consent items included shared-services recycling and yard-waste collection riders, cooperative purchasing participation, waivers of permit fees for the Northfield Community School interior renovation, and approvals for community coin drops and events.
