An amendment to a field‑use application dominated the consent‑agenda discussion at the Jan. 20 City Council meeting.
Councilman Notaro moved, and Councilman Dewees seconded, an amendment to Resolution 51‑2026 to change Mainland Youth Lacrosse’s permit window from Monday–Friday Feb.16–May 1 to Monday–Friday Feb.1–Mar.31; Clerk Mary Canesi explained staff had circulated a chart showing date conflicts and the amendment was adopted by unanimous roll call.
Later, Councilman Notaro moved to approve Resolution 52‑2026 (Skyhawks Sports volleyball) and Resolution 53‑2026 (Skyhawks Sports field hockey). Both motions failed on roll call; the minutes record all council members voting 'no' on each motion. Councilman Smith had asked whether representatives for the groups were present before votes on the Skyhawks applications.
The council treated other field‑use items separately and resolved conflicts in favor of groups with prior usage where possible.
