The Elyria Planning Commission voted to approve a design-review waiver for 374 Broad Street, allowing portions of the building façade to be painted. Commissioner Maggie Rivera moved for approval; Mary Hubbard seconded the motion, which passed by voice vote with one abstention.
Planning staff summarized the request and recommended approval. Staff told the commission that under the downtown design review guidelines, "the painting of masonry is prohibited," but noted the building was constructed in 1975 and is not listed as a contributing property in the Ohio National Register database. Staff also said most of the proposed paint would be on existing stucco, and described the amount of masonry to be painted as minimal. The chair abstained from the vote and the motion carried.
