A speaker addressing storm claims told the board that insurance payments and rebuild funds have been distributed and that remaining HVAC and mechanical work will affect final costs.
"I was able to pay the district 1000000 dollars already," the speaker said when summarizing immediate payments, and added that they "have issued a rebuild, which was about 3,300,000." The speaker said emergency repair and mitigation work is undergoing audit to ensure charges are appropriate.
Board members sought clarification on the bidding and approval process for repairs and asked whether deductibles are applied per building. The speaker explained that certain roofs and repairs are handled under different coverages and that a per-building deductible of about $116,000 applies to damages outside the single-ply roof group.
The board received the status update but attendees noted additional procurement steps and contractor reviews will be required before final repair decisions and payments are completed.
