Council approves comprehensive plan amendment to allow multifamily near Southern Bridge Corridor

The De Pere Common Council on Aug. 4 approved an amendment to the city’s comprehensive plan affecting parcels at 2108 Lawrence Drive and 1800 South Bridal Road to allow subsequent rezoning for a multifamily development. Planning staff Dan told the council the Planning Commission unanimously recommended the amendment following review of standards and the related developer terms discussed earlier this year.
Dan said, "This is, a comprehensive plan amendment that coincides with the greater, development that's happening around the Southern Bridge Corridor." The council opened a public hearing, received no public testimony, then moved to approve the amendment. The motion passed on a roll-call vote with unanimous support. The action clears the way for the developer to pursue rezoning and site-specific approvals consistent with the amended plan.
