Chief Academic Officer Brandy Bennefield told the board Head Start currently operates at the old Center Elementary building, which has been deemed unsuitable for students. She said F.L. Moffett Primary has two rooms that could be used and that an incorporated program could serve roughly 40 four-year-old children in two classes; each class would require two adults (teacher and aide or two teachers). A Family Service worker would be a Head Start employee rather than district staff.
After discussion of space and staffing implications, the board requested more information and asked staff to present a defined plan at the May board meeting before making any commitment.
