Big Sandy ISD trustees approve multiple contracts, meal price increase and personnel actions

Trustees moved rapidly through the agenda, approving the minutes of the previous meeting and voting on several contracts and administrative items. "A motion to apporve the minutes of the previous meeting. This motion, made by Mark Duff and seconded by Lyndon Alec, Passed," the record states. The board then approved a fuel supply contract (motion by Mark Duff, seconded by Zackary Williford), a contract with Interquest Detection Canines (motion by Lyndon Alec, seconded by Mark Duff), and the TEKS Certification and Instructional Material Allotment (motion by Zackary Williford, seconded by Mark Duff). All of those motions passed 4–0 with three trustees absent.
Trustees also approved an administration recommendation to increase adult meal prices for 2025–2026 "as recommended by the Texas Department of Agriculture." The motion, made by Lyndon Alec and seconded by Zackary Williford, passed 4–0. Later in the meeting the board approved contract extensions for the elementary, junior high and high school principals (motion by Lyndon Alec, seconded by Mark Duff) and authorized the superintendent to hire contract employees (motion by Mark Duff, seconded by Lyndon Alec). Both motions passed 4–0 with three absences.
The board announced it would hold an executive session citing provisions of the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code Section 551.001 et seq., covering attorney consultation, real property, personnel and other matters. The agenda included placeholders for the principal's report and the superintendent's report (transportation, facilities, finance, personnel), but the transcript records only the headings for those reports and does not include numerical enrollment, attendance, budget or staffing details.
