Heath Hagler, CHS principal, and Amanda Kirby, transportation/safety director, described the security and access reasons for enclosing the structure and presented three bids: BA&I Welding, Inc. ($62,000); Schumacher Construction Services, LLC ($51,750); and T&K Fence Company ($56,200). Jesse Ruiz, Maintenance Director, told trustees that "only BA&I Welding bid included the electric gate." Trustee Casey Lout moved to approve the BA&I Welding bid, and James Ragan seconded; the motion carried 5-0.
The approved contract covers the fence and the gate specified in BA&I’s bid. The board did not identify alternative funding sources during the discussion; the project will proceed under the district’s normal procurement and facilities processes.
