Trustees decline Head Start partnership for F.L. Moffett Primary

The Center Independent School District Board of Trustees voted not to enter into an agreement with Head Start to incorporate Head Start into the district’s Pre-K program at F.L. Moffett Primary. Trustee Casey Lout moved the motion, seconded by Trustee Gregg Hubbard; the board recorded a 6-0 vote against entering the agreement.
Board discussion centered on enrollment and funding figures. Board staff member Brandy Bennefield told trustees that numbers provided by the Head Start director “didn’t appear to be accurate” and that Region 7 staff had indicated there would be no double funding if a partnership were pursued. Trustees nonetheless chose to decline the agreement at this time.
The vote closes the item without directing staff to pursue a Head Start contract for F.L. Moffett Primary. The district will continue operating its existing Pre-K program; no immediate procurement or budget action was authorized by the board.
