District expands teacher-incentive designations after first cohort generated $350,000

Castleberry ISD officials updated trustees on the Teacher Incentive Allotment program and preliminary designation activity.
Catherine Walker, director of talent acquisition and development, said the district's first cohort generated almost $350,000 and that state-designated teachers receive the majority of those funds. "Last spring, our 1st cohort of designees was accepted and approved by the state generating almost $350,000 for Castleberry ISD with 90% of those funds being allocated directly back to our teachers," Walker said. For the current submission the district filed 30 teachers (26 new designations and 4 redesignations); the redesignations reflect teachers moving to higher designation levels. Walker explained a $500 per-teacher fee to TEA is part of the process and will be reimbursed after approval; the district expects notification in late February and funds available before Aug. 1, 2026.
Trustees had no follow-up questions; Walker said the district will continue expanding eligible roles and aligning student-growth measures and local systems to state requirements.
