The board-approved 2025–26 student code of conduct tightens discipline for nicotine vapes and clarifies removal and suspension procedures. Under the code, possession of a nicotine vape carries a minimum in‑school suspension of 10 days; selling or providing a device to another student remains a mandatory disciplinary alternative placement (DAP).
Wes Jackson explained that prior practices sometimes used ISS in place of mandatory DAP; the new code aligns district consequences with recent statutory changes and leaves discretion for principals. Jackson also noted that ISS no longer has a strict maximum in the code: placements beyond prior limits are allowed provided the principal reviews placements every 10 days.
