Canton ISD reports enrollment of 2,247; band earns 33rd straight Superior rating

Superintendent Dr. Brian Nichols told the Canton ISD Board of Trustees on Oct. 20 that the district's enrollment is 2,247. He provided campus breakdowns: Canton High School 647, Canton Junior High 552, Canton Intermediate School 524, and Canton Elementary School 524.
Dr. Nichols also highlighted recent extracurricular and operational items. The Canton Band "received straight 1's and a Superior rating" at the UIL All-Region Marching Contest on Oct. 18, 2025, marking the band's 33rd consecutive year to earn a Superior rating. The band is scheduled to compete at the UIL Area Competition in Lindale on Oct. 25, 2025. The CHS football team was reported at 7-0 overall and 2-0 in district play; cross country and FFA placings were noted in the superintendent's report.
Operational notes in the superintendent's remarks included a maintenance purchase of a 2015 single-cab, one-ton truck for $16,200 from Garland ISD and delivery of a new 77-passenger bus. The district also listed upcoming testing and extracurricular dates through Oct. 25.
