Burleson ISD board grants president temporary authority to approve new hires

The Burleson Independent School District Board of Trustees voted Aug. 11 to give Board President Jerri McNair authority to approve new professional hires between this meeting and the district's next regular meeting in September.
The motion to grant temporary hiring authority was made by Ms. Pat Worrell and seconded by Mrs. Dallas Owen; the roll call showed unanimous support from the six members present. The board said it will consider ratifying those hires at its next regular meeting.
The action was taken following a closed session called under Title 5, Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code for personnel and related matters. The minutes state the authority is limited to new hires and that the Board will review and ratify any appointments in September.
