Contractor work progressing but gym floor damage traced to Christmas-week plumbing leak

The business manager provided an on-site construction update and described progress on interior finishes and exterior sidewalks while the superintendent and staff detailed a water intrusion that damaged the gym floor.
The district is finishing ceiling grid and light fixtures and preparing sidewalks for rebar and pours; an inspector must complete a ceiling-cover check before ceiling tiles are installed. The contractor estimated mid-to-late February for additional milestones. "They've been doing the trim on the building all week ... we've got all of the ceiling grid in," the business manager said.
Separately, administrators described a plumbing incident over the Christmas break that allowed water to pool under gym-area sheetrock and caused boards to lift near the locker-room end. Superintendent recounted that Procore documentation and subs' photos revealed significant standing water; contractor staff ran drying equipment and said some boards will need replacement. The superintendent said the contractor has committed to address repairs and that staff hope to complete temporary repairs to get through the season before larger decisions on full floor replacement are made. "It's not even on the pipe surface yet ... there's 3 or 4 boards that aren't gonna go back on there," the superintendent said.
Board members asked about cost and timing; the superintendent estimated a full new court could cost about $125,000 but emphasized the district hoped to avoid full replacement if targeted repairs suffice. Trustees requested continued updates as contractor credits and repair scopes are clarified.
