Cherokee ISD reports: Ag fundraiser nets $1,100; cross-country advances to regionals

During the Oct. 13 meeting Ag program, elementary, secondary and athletics staff provided updates for board members. The ag teacher reported the recent fundraiser brought in more than $1,100 in profit; the wildlife team will take a field trip for contest preparation and two radio teams and two creed speakers will compete at the Bluebonnet LDE district contest on Nov. 3. Elementary updates included the closing of parent/teacher conferences, a successful Farm Safety Day and a fifth-grade trip to the Science Mill next week; elementary UIL is scheduled for Dec. 5.
Secondary staff noted ongoing bathroom navigation issues that have caused classroom distraction but said teachers and students are managing the October lull. Athletic staff reported seven high-school cross-country runners advanced to regional competition, football seasons are progressing with district play starting next week, and a junior-high game scheduled for Thursday was canceled.
