Board reviews TEA A–F accountability template and how CISD grading is calculated

At the Sept. 16 meeting, Rebecca Sharkey presented a Texas Education Agency (TEA) A–F accountability template customized with Cherokee ISD numbers and explained how the district's overall numerical grade is composed.
Sharkey told the board the district's numerical grade is comprised of two weighted parts — 70% student achievement and progress and 30% closing gaps — and that the three domains of data are student achievement (STAAR scores, college readiness, CCMR), school progress (academic growth or relative performance), and closing the gaps (performance of student groups). No motion was required for the informational presentation.
Board members heard the overview as context for monitoring school performance against state metrics.
